Mt. Diablo State Park

On Saturday, we decided to forgo yard work, cleaning house, or lazing about and head for higher ground. It was a beautiful day, aside from the ever present haze, and we've been cooped up too long. We drove over the Altamont to Mt. Diablo State Park and had a great time hiking. We stared awhile at the vultures, with their dark, iridescent wings. We scrambled on, over, and into sandstone rock formations. We forgot all about Jarom's birthday party, woops! We enjoyed a quiet hike on a less-traveled path and saw globs (a technical term) of ladybugs and beautiful red trees. All in all, it was a great way to spend the day and we in no way regretted the break from our routine.

Ooo...the envy.

When I was a little girl, my dad was the Bishop. I was jealous that the boys got the Father and Son campout every year. I PLEADED for a Daddy/Daughter campout...and let's just say, the Bishop was inspired to start a tradition still alive in that ward today (at least it was the last I heard).

And every year, the location for the famous Daddy/Daughter campout was (and maybe still is)...drumroll...MT. DIABLO!!!!

Looks like you had a great time. Glad someone could enjoy it. I won't tell you what our temps have been like, but let's just say I have been seriously homesick for the west.

Just say it Kristin...it has been cold. I saw those short sleeved shirts. I'm having some serious jealousy :)
